Midwest Electric, Paulding Putnam sponsor Ohio Governor's Imagination Library

Ohio Governor鈥檚 Imagination Library

Midwest Electric and Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative have partnered to become affiliates for Dolly Parton鈥檚 Imagination Library and Ohio Governor鈥檚 Imagination Library (OGIL) in two northwest Ohio counties.

Midwest Electric and Paulding Putnam will jointly serve as affiliates for Van Wert County, while Midwest will serve as the Mercer County affiliate.

Children from birth to age five can enroll to receive books from Ohio Governor鈥檚 Imagination Library. After enrollment, children will begin receiving a new book each month, at no cost to their family, until they reach the age of five.

鈥淲e鈥檝e continued to expand the Imagination Library statewide because we know the program works,鈥 said Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine. 鈥淵oung children are excited to receive the book each month in the mail, which is addressed to them. And just having these books in the home promotes a love of learning and family bonding that we know adds up to preparing children for kindergarten.鈥

鈥淢idwest Electric is happy to partner with the Ohio Governor鈥檚 Imagination Library. Concern for community is a primary tenet of the electric cooperative industry. We realize the importance of families exploring the joy of reading together,鈥 said Matt Berry, CEO of Midwest Electric.

George Carter, CEO of Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative, echoed Berry鈥檚 sentiments. 鈥淧aulding Putnam Electric Cooperative has been ingrained in the northwest Ohio community since 1935. We鈥檙e happy to expand our service to the community by sponsoring the governor鈥檚 program.鈥

The Ohio Governor鈥檚 Imagination Library is working to ensure that children in all 88 Ohio counties can enroll in Ohio Governor鈥檚 Imagination Library in 2020 by providing a dollar-for-dollar funding match with each county that opens OGIL to its residents. The Ohio General Assembly committed $5 million to OGIL in the state fiscal year 2020-2021 budget.
